Mahathir is a Chartered Accountant and a Fellow member of Chartered Accountants Ireland (previously known as the Institute of Chartered Accountants in Ireland), the Malaysian Institute of Accountants (MIA) and also the ASEAN Chartered Professional Accountants (ASEAN CPA).
Mahathir graduated with honours from University College London with a Bachelor’s Degree in Electronic and Electrical Engineering. He then pursued his Chartered Accountancy training in Dublin, Ireland, with a medium-sized firm. After successful completion of his professional examinations, he qualified as a Chartered Accountant and was admitted as a member of Chartered Accountants Ireland.
Mahathir returned to Malaysia after spending 15 years in the United Kingdom and Ireland and worked for BinaFikir, a local strategic advisory firm and subsidiary of Maybank Investment Bank. At BinaFikir, Mahathir was involved in various client engagements involving strategic advisory and project implementation, feasibility studies, and financial advisory for private finance initiatives and corporates.
Mahathir is now the Founding & Managing Partner of Mahzan Sulaiman, a professional firm which focuses primarily to help SME businesses unleash their full potential.
He is an Executive Director at Imej Jiwa Communications, a company involved in advising Malaysian public listed companies on Investor Relations & Financial Public Relations matters.
Mahathir is also an Independent Non-Executive Director and Chairman of the Audit & Risk Management Committee of OCK Group Berhad, a Malaysian company listed on the Main Board of Bursa Malaysia.
He is also the current President of the Malaysian Accounting Firms Association (MAFA).
As part of his social responsibility, Mahathir is also involved in some charitable foundations. He is the Honorary Treasurer of the Joseph William Yee Eu Foundation and a member of the Board of Trustees of the Malaysian Medical Association Foundation.
FEIZAL SULAIMAN BSc CA(M) FCA
Feizal started his career in Dublin, Ireland, as an auditor in BDO Simpson Xavier. Upon his return to Malaysia, he joined CIMB Investment Bank’s Corporate Finance and later joined Bank Islam in the Capital Markets team. At Bank Islam, he was instrumental in the recapitalisation exercise of Bank Islam, which saw Dubai Investment Group emerging as a substantial new shareholder to the bank in 2006.
In 2012, Feizal was Head of Wholesale Banking in Century Banking Corporation, the first Islamic bank in Mauritius, where he was credited with the execution of the first Commodity Murabaha Financing and the first Islamic Commercial Certificate (Wakalah) issuance in Mauritius. Feizal also had a stint in managing real estate development in Dubai prior to coming back to Malaysia.
With a career spanning almost 18 years and across four continents, he has accumulated a wealth of experience in various roles in corporate finance, capital markets, real estate and business management.
Feizal is a Fellow Chartered Accountant of Ireland and holds a Bachelor of Science in Accounting and Financial Analysis from University of Warwick, UK.
